Montesquieu in his work The Spirit of the Laws said that western democracy is only good for a small country. For countries with large populations, western democracy takes too long a time for decision-making. The fathers of the USA understand this well so they gave the president a power as huge as a dictator to make fast decisions, in war. It takes about a week for the president to decide on the war on Iraq, and it takes 8 years for the decision on health care reform. Both were bad decisions though.

Americans have the chance to elect a dictator to rule them every four years. Once a president is in power, he can do all the damage and Americans can do nothing about it except wait for four years to not elect him again.
